Lakeshore Catholic High School recognizes the benefits of co-curricular involvement and encourages all students to participate in at least one activity. The activity, however, must never be an excuse for unauthorized absences from class or from fulfilling academic requirements.
Students who participate in co-curricular activities must attend classes on the day of the activity up to the designated time of the activity. Only verified medical appointments will be accepted as an excuse. Students who are not in full attendance on that day will not be permitted to participate in the co-curricular event.
The Lakeshore Catholic Eligibility Review Committee ensures students who participate in extra-curricular activities maintain their commitment to their academic studies and to any other responsibilities they have at Holy Cross.
The Committee consists of at least three staff members, who review student progress and meet with students to discuss strategies that will enhance student success. The goal of the committee is to work with students, classroom teachers, coaches, moderators, and administration to provide each student with any support they need to be successful in all aspects of school life. The Committee may suspend or remove a student’s eligibility to participate for poor performance in any one of the three following aspects:
- Academic Standing
- Attendance
- Behaviour
